Open House
Central Baptist Church Arts Academy will host an Open House Tuesday, July 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Academy is located within Central Baptist Church at 300 North Roan Street across from the Johnson City Public Library. All interested in learning more about our music and arts programs are welcome. Youth festival
Youth Festival will be held at Thankful Baptist Church, 1501 East Watauga Avenue, on Saturday, July 24. Providing a powerful fellowship and worship experience for the community by inviting them to become a part of the Kingdom of God. The festival will begin at 1:00 - 8:00 pm on Earl Street between East Unaka and E. Watauga; E. Watauga and E. Myrtle Avenue. There will be Inflatables, games, music and food. SingleVision picnic
On Monday, July 22, SingleVision will be hosting a picnic at Eastman Recreation Area Shelter #38 at 6:30 p.m. and Moonlit Hike on Bays Mountain at 8 p.m. Please bring a beverage and a food item enough for your group and to share. Open House
The River Ministry for women will be hosting an Open House on August 6 from 6-8 p.m. during First Friday events in downtown Johnson City. Guests can tour The River, enjoy treats, music, art for sale with proceeds going to The River, and face painting for the kids (or the young at heart). In addition, the Johnson City Public Library will be hosting an art show led by artist Lydia Wilson during the month of August featuring work from women who use The River’s services. The Johnson City Public Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9-8 and Friday and Saturday from 9-6. Please contact Stacy Larsen at 926-8111 for more information.
JC Community Theatre production
Johnson City Community Theatre will present the heartwarming family comedy “Belles on Their Toes” July 30 – Aug. 15, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on Aug. 8 and Aug. 15. The show is adapted by William Roos and based on the book by Frank Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors (55 and up) and $12 for adults. Photography exhibit
The Johnson City Area Arts Council will feature an exhibit of recent photographs by Kingsport native, Laila Boggs. “An Exterior Interior,” as the exhibit is called will be in the Arts Council’s downtown gallery through July 30, 2010. Guitar lessons
Princeton Arts Center, 2516 E. Oakland Ave., will offer guitar lessons for beginners ages 6 and older on Mondays beginning July 26. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of music theory, guitar tablature reading, basic chords, and technique.
Lessons will be held every 30 minutes from 3:30-6 p.m.
